“Jesus said to them in reply...”

My dear brothers and sisters, we are already in the third Sunday of Lent and the Church invites us to accompany those who will soon receive the sacraments of Christian initiation in the approaching Easter Vigil. These coming Sundays, we will accompany them through the scrutiny that will prepare them to receive the sacraments. Let us pray to God that they may arrive at that longed-for day with a heart open to God's grace.
This Sunday's readings present us with a great dilemma of evil; with great clarity, Jesus refutes that the tragedy that happened to those Galileans, or simply the tragedies that occur in everyday life, are not connected or have nothing to do with someone being better or worse. On many occasions, we can find ourselves in front of this question: Why does this happen to me? What did I do wrong? Well, my dear brothers, nothing; you have not done anything wrong. Unfortunately, evil does exist, and many misfortunes occur, and this is due in principle to the sin and evil that exists in the heart of every human being. And it is here that Jesus makes the clarification, “By no means! But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!.”
My dear brothers and sisters, it is necessary that we realize the importance of conversion, of not turning back or letting the disordered passions take control of our hearts, since they are the ones that lead us to live a life far from God and bearing bad fruits. For this reason, Jesus invites us to see what kind of soil and tree we are. A necessary action since if I do not bear fruit, I continue consuming the fertile land that God provides us.
May these Lenten days allow us a true and profound revision of our lives so that we may be able to put aside what hurts us and makes us unfruitful in order to begin to bear fruit for eternal life. The first step is the most important, repentance, a sincere sorrow for what we have done in our lives that does not allow us to grow and return to the Father with a whole heart. We still have time to change our soil and be nourished with the soil of God.
 

“Jesús les hizo este comentario…”
Mis queridos hermanos, nos encontramos ya en el tercer domingo de cuaresma y la Iglesia nos invita a acompañar a aquellos que pronto recibirán los sacramentos de la iniciación cristiana en la aproximada Vigilia Pascual. Y es que en estos próximos domingos les estaremos acompañando por medio de los Escrutinios que los prepararan para recibir los sacramentos. Pidamos a Dios que lleguen a ese tan anhelado día con un corazón abierto a la Gracia de Dios. 
Las lecturas de este domingo nos presentan un gran dilema del mal, con gran claridad, Jesús refuta que la tragedia que les pasó a aquellos galileos o simplemente las tragedias que ocurren en el día a día, no están conectadas o tienen nada que ver con que alguien sea mejor o peor. En muchas ocasiones nos podemos encontrar ante esta interrogante, ¿Por qué me ocurre esto? ¿Qué abre echo mal? Pues mis queridos hermanos, nada; no has realizado nada mal. Lamentablemente el mal si existe y ocurren muchas desgracias y esto se debe en principio por el pecado y la maldad que existe en el corazón de cada ser humano. Y es aquí donde Jesús hace la aclaración: “Ciertamente que no; y si ustedes no se arrepienten, perecerán de manera semejante.” 
Mis queridos hermanos, es necesario que nos demos cuenta la importancia de la conversión, de no volver ni dejar que las pasiones desordenadas tomen control de nuestros corazones; ya que ellos son los que nos conducen a vivir una vida alejada de Dios y dando frutos malos. Por tal motivo, Jesús nos invita a ver el tipo de tierra y árbol que somos. Una acción necesaria, ya que, si no doy frutos, para que siga consumiendo de la tierra fértil que Dios nos provee. 
Que estos días cuaresmales nos permitan una verdadera y profunda revisión de nuestras vidas, para que seamos capaces de dejar a un lado aquello que nos hace daño y nos hace infecundos para así comenzar a dar frutos para la vida eterna. El primer paso es el más importante, el arrepentimiento, un sincero dolor por lo que hemos hecho en nuestras vidas que no nos permite crecer y volver al Padre con corazón entero. Todavía estamos a tiempo de cambiar nuestra tierra y ser nutridos con la tierra de Dios.
